Eircom F1000 - Best QoS for Internet Streaming

    Hi Experts,

Just looking for advice on how to best set-up QoS to help prioritize streaming. Devices which stream I try to connect via cable to switches (e.g. PS4, Android TV Box), next would be Wifi and Chromecast. Hardly ever use the phone/voice in case that matters.

My current settings are probably the out of the box default.

    Advice/guidance welcome. Thanks!

Do you need QOS? With 70mbit down and 20 up you probably don't need it. Just limit your downloads so they don't max your connection. QOS on these cheap provider modems isn't great as they really agent all that powerful and have little ram.

Downloading files is not an issue, however with HD or HQ streaming over the internet am getting freezing and buffering periodically. Thought QoS might help...

What devices are you playing the stream on? Wired or wireless? Have you considered adding a better router?

Android TV box or PC via wired connection. Sometimes Wifi via tablet and Chromecast. Was just trying to get this router optimized first before trying something new...

QOS would only affect inbound traffic from the router to the device. With 1 gig on the internal and 70mb at the WAN interface, its not going to do anything.

Okay so just a case of living with it? I assume issue may be at source for stream or just end to end network bandwidth?

Lots of Android tv boxes struggle with a HD stream, even on Ethernet. A Chromecast can too on wireless as is limited to 2.4ghz. Ask Eircom for an F2000, it's dual band 802.11ac but also has a faster CPU and more ram. It would perform better and may go a long way towards solving your issues.
