Am I the only one who feels we are now being asked to buy all the ingredients for our detergents as separate products?

The basic detergent, stain remover, bacteria remover, softener, fragrance booster...

What ever happened to claims that the detergent did all these functions on it's own?

B*llocks. I don't even buy washing up liquid. When I'm having a shower I just bring all the plates & cups in with me.

I was thinking the same recently.

Those Vanish ads where some girl scrubs at a stain with some mixture of Vanish and water annoy the hell out of me.
There she is, scrubbing away at some soup stain, THEN puts it in the wash with ANOTHER scoop of Vanish...seems like she's doing the actual job of the washing machine before the wash?!!

And what's with this Dettol Laundry Cleanser "..to remove 99.9% of bacteria"?
I've never caught any fcuking diseases from my just-washed clothes using Bold; why the hell would I start buying anti-bacterial cleanser when my machine bloody cleans the clothes?

    Loads of tosh it is.

Ha, Next you will say someone invented a scam in relation to buying 2 pieces of bread and the filling for the sandwich. That cost twice the amount of a normal sandwich and you have to put it together. I blame Hipsters.

Well la di da, no recession in your house. I stand under the gutter when it rains, with my clothes and the dishes.

All that sh1te is for gullible mugs. I get a bit annoyed at the ads for miracle anti-aging creams. They are preying on middle aged women who are a bit anxious over starting to lose their looks. They don't fcuking work.

At least the bread serves it's purpose as is. You can have a piece of bread, make toast etc as it's not sold exclusively for making sandwiches. And if you want a sandwich you can buy a complete sandwich. But apparently, now, to do laundry, laundry detergent won't fulfill the function without all the additional products.

I beg to differ. I'd no baby oil one night, and I was getting down to some self-lovin'. Had to use a palmful of the oil of ulay instead. There was noticeably less wrinkles in the skin flute afterwards.

Maybe we're being asked, but we can just say no. I got some of that stain removal powder to boost the soap if I think it needs it, but that's all. I'm a man, I don't need me no stinkin' fabric softener.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

I use detergent, softener, some soda crystals if things are really filthy or stained, and those scented beads (the pink ones). All my stuff smells like roses.

Carbolic soap. You can wash your clothes, your dishes, yourself and the dog in one go.

OP I feel the struggle. Im missing the fairy with Olay moisturiser in it. Its was nice to know that a product which can used to clean up oil spills can also be soft on your hands?

Jokes aside the best washing powder is from Lidl. Its dirt cheap. Despite seeing dozens of brand names for washing power in the Supermarket. Only 2 companies make all them. The different brand names is to saturate the market and stop new companies. You arent paying for the pseudo-competition in the lidl washing powder.

You need a new washing machine. Formil and doussy are just as good as the brand name equivalents, and I'm relatively sure I get much dirtier than you on a regular basis, clothes wise :)

I duno I'm skeptical I think it really hasn't done as good a job, and I'm not one to be fussy about brand name things
