Prices for braces are quoted following a clinical examination/consultation, as treatment may take 6,12,18,24 months, or more. There are also numerous different types of braces (metal, ceramic, Invisalign, Incognito, fixed, removable ect).

Definitely see an orthodontist for braces as opposed to a general dentist, as they are more specialized& can offer you a greater range of options. Appointments are usually every 6-8weeks, so choose somewhere that is accessible to you geographically, & won't impact too much on work/study in terms of time off. (Also factor in that you may require unscheduled visits, say if a bracket comes off, or a wire comes loose)

You should see your general dentist first anyway, to ensure that there are your teeth& gums are in a healthy condition before the braces are placed; you don't want them crumbling away whilst the teeth are being straightened!
