6 year old Octavia 5 owners

Hi,

I'm looking at buying an 09 Octavia RS, from a Skoda dealer. The only issue, it seems to have had 5 previous owners. Should this be something to be concerned about?

I haven't seen it yet, but am planing on heading down tomorrow to have a look and test drive.

First owner may have been the dealer and it was a demo car. You would probably be expecting around 3 owners. Is it the petrol or diesel model?

couLd also be a tax arrears thing where sold to family member and back again.

It wouldn't bother me at all.

I look at the car for how it is not owners as some buy cars and don't like or just change quite often.

Great car by the way great fun to drive.

You need to find out how long each owner had it.

I just ran a car check report, the owners were

1st: 4 months
2nd: 5 months
3rd: 1 month
4th: 2 1/2 years
5th: 2 3/4 years

It's the diesel version.

Plus 2 cycles in a dealers for a few months.

I'd imagine it was a finance repo? Odd after 1 month of ownership though.

Yes, it would look like that was a repo at that time. The first 3 owners didn't hang on to it for long at all.

I would also ask this question on Autostadt and vagdrivers.
Somebody there might know some backround to this car.

This vehicle is costing 14,450e & when spending all that money why not get a car with 1 or 2 owners. Could one not be selective spending 14.450e. I would definitely be asking questions!! Maybe I am behind the times!!

Thanks for all the replies. I called down and took it for a test drive, and it was sweet to drive, and seems well kept.

The first owner apparently was the original garage that sold it, and had it as a demo for a few months first, and the last two owners were brothers, so, if what I was told is correct, there were only 2 short term owners, for whatever reason.

I'll give it a few days and then decide.

If the car checks out and hasn't been destroyed by a flood or cut and shut I wouldn't be worried about amount of owners.

Get a decent check done on it for that money.

Do AA still do full check? worth doing if they do or one of the others that do.
