EI short haul - awful legroom

Tonight I had a flight on EI from AMS-DUB. The seats were not the usual ones, being light gray in colour, and they had Spanish writing on the tray tables.

Anyway, I simply did not fit in the seat. My knees were total wedged into the row in front. I'm 6'2" and while I don't expect comfort in economy I'm not used to being actively uncomfortable.

Anyone know what the story with this aircraft is? I hope this is an isolated aircraft...

Which flight number? Sounds like it could be one of the A319s which previously operated for Iberia. I think there's only two left in the fleet, but they do have reduced seat pitch over the A320 configs.

    Flightradar24 says it was EI-EDS.

EI-EDS was a direct delivery from Airbus to Aer Lingus, its only 6.8 years old.

EI-EDP and EI-EDS were originally ordered by Comoro Islands Airline but were not taken up. This may account for the different interior.

Those things are pure torture for anyone halfway tall like me. Flew on one with Iberia Express from Berlin to Madrid this year-never ever again.

I was under the impression that the ex Iberia interiors had been harmonised or that the airframes themselves had left the fleet.

The A320's have been refitted and the A319's are leaving the fleet. First one gone already.

Legroom is really good in rows 1-10 on those aircraft, nasty elsewhere

Out of curiosity what's the pitch on the atr's. Was in one recently and was very pleased. The interior was a bit shabby but loads of leg room when compared to Ryanair

Nope – I was in row three. I actually couldn't get my knees into the middle without them pressing hard against the seat. See picture.

Yeah, that's the 'good' legroom on those... its tighter further back, I have to contort myself in.

Now that we have clarified what the OP was talking about it seems time to lock this thread?

Just to clarify the clarification, are we saying that there are two A320s in the Aer Lingus fleet that have a non-standard interior with dire legroom (EI-EDP and EI-EDS)?

The ex-Iberia A319s are a different matter (the OP was on an A320) and are on the way out of the fleet.

The two A320's EDP/EDS initially arrived with good & bad legroom layout and a different galley layout. They were retro fitted to even it out and match the rest of the fleet.
Part of the issue could be, that as the seats have a hard plastic back, there is very little 'give' and this is tough on tall people's knees.

I flew on EI-EDP last August and found the seat pitch to be very uncomfortable, even just for a DUB-LGW flight. Can't recall any legroom issues but it was the seat which I found most uncomfortable.

Sounds like the two aircraft don't actually match the rest of the fleet so?

    Was on EI-EDP this morning

No issue with legroom in row 11, was fine. Did a quick look while walking through cabin leg room seemed fairly normal

No issue with legroom in row 11, was fine. Did a quick look while walking through cabin leg room seemed fairly normal

That's because DEP is a standard EI cabin and always has been
