Hitachi Alternator/Ignition Lights Trouble

    Hi all, wondering if anyone can help me with this issue!

    Have an Hitachi EX35 1990 excavator, with a 12v battery. After fitting new alternator. When I turn the key to first ignition position, the ignition lights don't come on, not a flicker.
    When I turn key to start, engine starts fine but still no ignition lights at all.

    Just wondering what could be the problem?
