Hey guys im wondering what are peoples thoughts on this? Ive been to a few different coaches through the years but ive never really clicked with any of them. Now i know they were all very good coaches but they were all very old school.

Watching people like mark crossfield on Youtube has got me thinking about the differences in this type of teaching and more old school type of teaching.

Have many of you guys haf lessons with pros that use launch monitors? Whats you're opinions on this? I'm really thinking of getting a few lessons with a coach that uses launch monitors but it would be great to get some feedback from you guys first.

I'd say that fundamentally speaking you'll be getting the same advice irrespective of the coach.

It will really depend on you personally. Some people like to see the numbers that you'll get from trackman to validate the results (eg numbers for change in swing path, angle of attack, etc...) Others are happy to see the results in the flight of the ball.

Me personally, I like being able to see real numbers to reinforce learning, in which case, a lesson with trackman has definite benefits

I would agree but would add the for me it was much easier to visualise my issues. I had a few lessons on GC2 with HMT and being able to see the club face at impact in minute detail was a revelation.

Would like to try a trackman lesson.
Any advice on pros using it? Preferable Dublin West or North.

Personally I prefer a pro with a launch monitor. Impact is king and numbers can confirm what the pro thinks they are seeing.

Take the "new" ball flight laws for example. Without launch monitors we would probably still have them wrong. When I first read the new ones a light went off in my head. Finally made progress on getting rid of my slice which had been there for years as it finally made sense.

I would say educate yourself on what the numbers mean before you go. Checkout Mark Crossfield, Martin Chuck, Andrew Rice and Trackman TV for help with this. The more you know walking in the more you will get from it.

Experience would be essential factor for me, somone with a proven methodology of theoretical analysis. Someone who can parafrase the theory into user friendly dialect.

Who ever you choose, you will know after the first lesson if he is right for you, otherwise move on.
