I read on of of the mileage blogs that EI is joining Oneworld. Due to the partnership with United I thought they would join *A. Pity as I'm *A gold and was looking forward to getting miles for use on EI whenever I'm home.

IAG is the reason. It's believed their agreements with United will remain

Are they really (re)joining one world? *happy dance if true*

When IAG bought them Oneworld was inevitable.

IAG stated that as an element of their takeover of EI, entry into OneWorld will happen. (also entry into the AA-BA-IB-AY joint venture agreement across the Atlantic)

However this could of course take 12-18 months as EI currently codeshare with United.

Even then if the codeshare still makes sense ( and money) for both sides it may be kept. Alliances are nice and all, but ultiamtely cash is king.
