Hi, can anybody give me any advice on the cost of head gasket repair on an old Seicento...
Water in oil / expansion tank burst...
Wondering what is involved in this repair, guessing that I can't do it myself?
    Help & advice greatly appreciated!!

if you need to ask whats involved, you proberly wont be able to do it.

repairs could be expensive, the head could be cracked or become porus, which would need replacing.

    did it boil?

it would 300-400 I would be thinking

If its the 1100 it is fairly easy, head skim, new head blots, new TB and water pump and head gasket set. No big deal.

Hi Rexer, no it's not the 1100, it's the 899...the car is old...1998...
    She is turning over...
But expansion tank blew cover so evidence of coolant spray everywhere...
One of the house pipes at the top appears to be partially melted, but maybe this is not related...there is also an oil bleed in the air filter...
    Again advice greatly appreciated...
The car is in good nick other wise...although the mileage is 118k!
I bought it recently and it would be a shame to not to get it back on the road, but obviously the economics are important too!

Here is a link to a guide on the FIAT Forum UK, a great resource for anyone that owns a Fiat.

    http://www.fiatforum.com/cinquecento-seicento-guides/224977-cinquecento-899cc-head-gasket-change.html

If the engine didn't get too hot you should be able to recover it.

Hi lexus I done it on an old fiat and its fairly straight forward, If you are comfortable with a screwdriver and pliers in your hand, then you can do it, otherwise get somebody else.

And that fiat website is brilliant. Got me out of a lot of bother with my old yoke. Id nearly buy another fiat just to visit that site more!!

Haha I can sell you one :)
If I was getting a mechanic to do it how much do you reckon it would cost?
