But I just dont get the parvy ? point on the rehousing of the travellers .
I am over 50 still working on a minim wage, paying my taxes, and I dont get that the new site is not good enough. I lived with my parents, when my kids
were young, while we saved, and struggled to get on the housing ladder.
No one gave me a place for free, maybe Im being naive here
or am I missing something ?
I can see that what they went through was tragic, but I could never afford
the funerals they have had , maybe its the emperor has no clothes .
Sorry if I offend anyone, but I just dont get it ?

Maybe edit your title to save the jibes. "Depth" not "debt"
One is distance the other is poverty.

You'll probably find the families came together on the funding of the funerals.

The Nazis are picking on the fact that you said 'Out of my debt' rather than 'Out of my depth'.
If you claim to be a disadvantaged minority with related literacy problems then you can accuse them of being racist.

Housing homeless families. Happens all the time, except most people wouldn't settle for a Portakabin in a field without water or sanitation.

Not for much longer. Our sophisticated progressives are getting bored with the travellers now, they'll be moving on to [insert trendy minority cause here] starting next week. I'm gonna take a guess and say it'll be the oppressed Malaysian sea gypsies.

I'm glad you felt the need to state that you can see that what they went through was tragic. The rest of your post suggests that empathy isn't really your strong point.

As for the cost of the funerals... I would imagine that a lot of money was raised for them, both inside and outside of the travelling community. Even the residents of Rockville Drive claimed that they had been planning on doing some fundraising, before deciding that they didn't want them living near them.

    sorry cant do the quotes.
No im not against it tbh, I lived in a council hose for over 30 years
Im not saying anything like that, but I took what they gave me
and was seriously delighted But I did not get to say exactly what I would have preferred , and worked very hard for over 25 years to get to live in the house that was my preference.
Matbe Im not that intelligent as some on boards, But to me hard work
and saving got you what you wanted in life.
Maybe Im getting old very quick.
If we choose a way to live , do we not have to work to achieve it ? no .

or friends to be put up, Of course I have empathy, huge empathy,
Ok Im coming across wrong I suppose.

Lots of travellers are rich, but why pay when they know the council will provide them with everything.

They'll be waiting weeks for running water.

Imagine loosing your home and not having running water. Makes washing, cooking and toilets more difficult.
