    Hi guys

    Miserable weekend so far.

Lying in bed here feeling sorry for myself (not hungover, just down).

I refuse to waste the whole day today. Has anyone any suggestions?

I have very few friends btw and they're all busy. I took a spa day last week, would be tempted to take another if there's a reasonably priced one. Also went to the cinema.

    Any recommendations?

Get yourself out in the wilderness OP. Nothing like a good ramble around the mountains to lift your spirits.

I spent yesterday in my pj's eating crap. Today I'm determined to do something. Even if it's just having a coffee somewhere nice. Or an auld pint which would be even better.

Sweet Jesus. We have a thread on sex with a horse, a poster called Sheep Lover taken to task for butting in (sorry), and now a Bullock, (a Bullock !) urging masturbation.

It's too much. I can't even. Etc. etc.

Are you anywhere near the sea...I do find even 15-20 walking on beach clears the head/shakes the lethargic from me

It sucks to be down. I can only imagine a lot of aliens feel sorry
    for us humans.

Walking / Exercise helps but its a monumental effort to get going.

If all that fails, find an American and go leprechaun hunting, they wont
    know the difference.

Go for a nice long walk and then treat yourself to a meal afterwards. Look after yourself if no one else is around to do that.

    Hi Tom

I was considering going for a coffee too and maybe a cheeky cigarette. :)

It takes guts to go on your own, especially being surrounded by families and couples.

I'm not sure if your response was intended for me :)

It's not easy. I know that. One thing I always remember is that you never know another person's story. So you are seeing familes and couples and assuming they are happy and wishing it could be that way for you. They are individuals too. They hurt and argue and get lonely and scared. Having a family and being part of a couple doesn’t mean tough times and feeling down disappears. In fact in some cases it can be intensified.

Get out there OP and be happy in having freedom to make your own choices and enjoy your own company.

A day doing nothing is never a wasted day in my opinion ......... I can't remember the last time I got to lie in bed/couch all day watching movies, crap tv, eating sh1te, reading, dozing off every now and again ......... and I don't foresee myself being able to have a day like that again for the next few years at least. :(

Plus one on that, the grass is not always greener .......... but if you suffer from any form of depression or are prone to feeling down then it can sometimes feel like everybody else is happy and 100% content with their lives when, in reality, that's rarely the case.

    Learn a new hobbie ,
    Read a book
Go for a walk or swim or something
    Keep active today
Call to a family member for a chat
Go out and watch a match(pub) (don't have to drink)
The people around will create a positive atmosphere
    Play a video game
Do something good for something( eg give a lift , help someone out eg DIY work)

Fresh air and view always cheers me up. A walk somewhere with trees, water or mountains. But don't just walk ,really take in your surroundings. Listen to the wind ,the birds, the waves whatever. Breathe in the fresh air, smell the sea/grass/wet leaves. And just take in the view. No need to think just appreciate the loveliness of nature.
I'm going out to pick blackberries soon to make jam for the crack. I spend all week running round after kids. Am totally alone today and so looking forward to an hour mindlessly picking berries along the ditch.
Might sound boring but sometimes doing a small thing (outside in the fresh air) that involves no real thought can just give your mind a rest.

    Any week now...

There should be Spanish football on telly after the rugby. Then it's a bank holiday Sunday night so good craic and music down the local for an hour or 2.

It depends where you are. If you're in Galway theres a Macnas parade in the city centre this evening at 5.30 pm.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Exercise - gym, long walk in the country or a spin on your bike.

When the muscles ache, head to the cinema. Highly recommend Sicario.

Meet a pal for coffee or dinner or a pint.

If no pals around, get a nice takeawy, bottle of wine and home to listen to a few tunes.

I spent the morning cleaning. Sounds boring but I was actually in the mood for it and this place hasn't had a decent scrub in a while.
Steam-mopped the floors, cleaned the bathroom, living room etc..house is sparkling.

I went to the gym too which I enjoyed, then did some window shopping and I'm now going to start cooking steak with veg for my dinner.

Hope you had a nice day, OP. I know a few people who would waste today by just lying in bed hungover.

    Is Sicario fairly decent?

Alarm went off at 5am, got up at 6am delira with the clocks going back. Off up from Kerry to Limerick for a 70km Memorial Spin for a young girl I knew nothing about until I read about her story online so signed up for the spin.
The wind knocked me on the return leg. You know what though, eventhough my back is a little sore, the legs are feeling stronger. Wonderful days cycle eventhough I couldn't help think of my own Late Loving Dad & what we'd normally be doing for a Family Sunday - how times change!

Tomorrow will be another day, get up early again, gym, study, a walk is on the cards tomorrow in local National Park I'd say.

Dig Deep OP! I find the hardest part is getting yourself out the door. An entire World out there full of Life and Laughter that's waiting for you to explore :)

Hey OP, have you heard the song by One Republic 'I Lived' with the lyrics
Hope that you spend your days, but they all add up
And when that sun goes down, hope you raise your cup
    ...

Try do something Positive for yourself. I find life has enough ways to get you down, don't do it to yourself also,

Excellent, high octane stuff from the start. Benicio Del Toro steals the show.

I went to the coast and had a glass of wine overlooking the sea. I was surrounded by families and couples and as hard as I tried to appreciate the waves etc., I found myself staring at my phone pretending to be busy.

Then I got a take away and ate it watchinh the Dark Knight. I watched X Factor and now I'm about to watch Twelve Angry Men (never seen it).

I've been lying in my room for 5 and a half hours.

It really has been an awful weekend and tomorrow the whole process will be repeated until work on Tuesday.

Sorry Toddy I'm so stressed I didn't even answer your question there! :)

I do have books.. But I do not have the patience. My mind wanders. I am the type of person who'll have to read the same page several times in order to actually take in the info..

No worries, I mention reading as that's what I do when I feel like crap and while it doesn't necessarily cheer me up, it does usually leave me in what you'd call a reasonable mood. (going for an aimless walk or whatever would usually just depress me more)

Is it the being alone that's getting you?

    Hi,

Where are you based? Savour Kilkenny is on with lots of free stuff to do,

I had to work today, and again tomorrow,

I love going off on my own, leaving himself home alone. Give me a coffee and a good book, I can even keep quiet for hours. A walk with one of my dogs always makes me feel good, and time is a luxury we usually have on these walks.

I sky plus stuff to watch if I am desperate, and if I am really desperate.... Cleaning is always an option

Hope you can plan tomorrow, I know the weather is not to be nice, how about window shopping? Christmas is close,

I haven't seen 1 person today, haven't left the house. I just realised that I haven't spoken all day.
Today I watched Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, World War Z, and 4 episodes of the League of Gentlemen. It was great.
