Plain, tasteful fireplaces in Dublin

We've bought an old house with a 1930s/40s feel. It has a small front room with high ceiling, picture rail and simple coving.

It came with a tiled fireplace in drab colours and poor condition, which we've removed.

We've decided to get an inset stove. We've looked in a number of fireplace shops and everything seems to be imitation Victorian with polished stone and over-done wrought iron.

We would be really grateful if someone could give us information on where we might find plain fireplaces that would suit an older house. Something very modern will look odd and the Victorian-looking efforts are very fake imo and won't suit the style of the house.

We've been told that you shouldn't put a wooden mantle with a stove - would also be eager to hear if that is true.
