Have been contemplating buying a classic car for a small budget, something to tinker around on , a simple fixer upper for weekend driving only.

As most of the cars I like are either way too expensive are require way too much work was thinking bout a early 90's mx-3 . From what I read there meant to be pretty reliable, can be had for under 1k, any advice, thoughts on these cars???

A bit too obscure for a fixer upper imo, parts wouldn't be the easiest to source.

Yeah I always like the obscure ones! Part of the attraction, will do a bit more research seems to be a few engine options on these

    There's a V6 option.

Thanks yep there's a 1.8v6 , a 1.6 and as far as I know the jap imports are all 1.5, there's a few of the 1.5's on donedeal not sure what the best option is...reliability and parts would be my priority

You're not gonna get your weekend jollies in an MX3.

MX3 are typical Jap in my opinion 100% reliable. The only problem I have seen was trying to source a rear window through insurance and couldn't be got and had to fit S/H. Most of them will use oil that's about the biggest prob. If u buy and stuck for parts I have a silver one I will most likely be crushing in near future

I think the vrt on the classics is around €700 only.
Could be worth it for a good one.
