Need advice on waste water system

    Hey all,

I'm just wanting some advice on a possible issue with our waste water. We have a bit of a smell around the house after using the shower and flushing the toilets. We noticed it first a few weeks ago when it was really bad one day. However it hasn't been as bad since then but it's still there. I'm thinking there may be some sort of blockage?

I've had a look around the house and can't see any leaks of any kind.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Sam

Is there anything you dont use very often? i.e. shower/toilet/sink. Just run the water down for a minute, the waste traps could simply have dried out, letting waste air back into the house.

Then check if everything connected to the waste actually has a trap fitted.

    Thanks for your reply whizbang.

There isn't really anything that we don't use very often so I wouldn't have thought that the waste traps would have dried out. I will check these anyway just to make sure. I will also check that everything has a waste trap fitted.

We have a bathroom upstairs with shower over bath, sink and toilet. downstairs is a toilet and kitchen sink. We noticed the other day that after the shower was used the smell was mostly around the kitchen. However I couldn't pinpoint where from exactly. It didn't smell like it was coming straight from the sink. Nor did it smell like it was coming from the toilet downstairs at all...... Very confused
