Why don't the teachers at my daughters secondary mark the homework or class books?

Hi, I am interested to understand why the teachers at my child's school don't mark or check her homework or class books?

My child is confused as this was the norm in her previous school (UK private school system). She is in a private fee paying Irish school now. My daughter's and my biggest concern is that we do not know what she needs to improve on if the teacher is not checking her work?

Is this the norm for Irish schools?

    Thanks in advance

Hi, I'm a teacher. No that is not the norm. Teachers are supposed to check copies fairly regularly. I take mine up every 3 weeks or so to see what difficulties any of the students are having.
The teacher could be checking the work in class time maybe.

Maybe bring it up at a Parent Teacher meeting?
