Dunnes Stores Reflective Jacket

Anyone bought one of these >> Full Reflective Jacket? They're completely reflective and look very impressive (in store under the shop lighting) however I was wondering if they'd be too reflective at night? I also couldn't see anything on the labelling to indicate if they're rain proof although the material does look like its at least shower proof. They're a little expensive at €50 but I'd consider one for night spins.

The Proviz is discussed here. Looks very similar.

I had similar one from Pennys. They are definitely not waterproof and whats worse not breathable enough. But for the price I paid (9euro) it did the job rather well. Only reason I'm not using it anymore is because broken zipper.

If I'm thinking on the same ones then the jacket you got in penny's was not full reflective material like this one, it was just hi-viz shiny material but not actually reflective at all so your not comparing like with like. The jacket in dunnes in 100% reflective from top to bottom similar to the Proviz jacket. It states that it is 100% breathable but I was wondering if it was shower proof too.

They are obnoxious at night in a group that's for sure. Anyone with a light will be blinded by the flare from that.

Night mTB last year and a guy was wearing one of those and he was asked to take it off. Everyone else was seeing sun spots as lights were reflecting back.

I wonder from a car position what it is like. They really flare with no distinction of shape or outline.

The one I have is fully reflective. But originally it was sold as running jacket.

Yes, the Dunnes jacket is showerproof.

I got one last year for running, was not very waterproof due to the threaded seams and possibly the material as well.

If you want proper waterproofing you need to get jacket with taped or welded seams.

"Proper" waterproofing is not necessarily beneficial. "Breathable" can work, but whatever you have it does not take much to get a bit of a sweat up, making waterproofing pretty pointless. Personally I value warmth ahead of attempting to keep dry in my winter gear
