    Hi guys

house built in 2008. Cavity block with plasterboard inside. Behind plasterboard is 50mm kingspan.

I have the enviable task of finding studs in the walls to hang stuff etc. I have a magnet and getting on ok as i can see the marks in the skirting where the nails are and i work up from there

however wall in hallway (right inside front door at right hand side) - i cant find anything , nothing at all. Wall sounds hollow so my questions are

    1. what is behind this wall, there should be stud, no ?
    2. Around window frames the magnet sticks all the way along for about an inch high, is this the little metal piece around the window frame ?
    3. Should there be studs near the window frames in order to hang curtain poles etc?

    Thanks for any help

Edit : I find actually that I can use the magnet to detect lots of nails behind walls that were built recently but only maybe 1 nail behind walls in original house from 2008. Is this because they are there longer and magnet can't detect through the board ?

Am I safe enough to work up from skirting board nail holes , they seem to be 16 inch apart so likely in the stud ?

Could be 400mm or 600mm apart.
