After seeing the responses to another post I am intrigued to see how often people are getting punctures.

How many times have you punctured in the last 5 years? 88 votes

I'd say 2 in the last 10 years but they were got in the last 5 if that makes sense. Was a nail/carpet tack each time.

It's pretty much a non-issue for me - Two in twenty years of driving. Screw and pothole.

Just a damaged valve. Was asked if I had any "enemies".
Would have been cool to claim I had.

1 in December, but I've only had a car 18 months.

Also had a tyre go in an Ursus....not a fun job to replace those!

None since the celtic tiger. Less builders etc on the road, less nails screws tacks.

I fcuking bombarded with punctures in the Lexus of late, 4 punctures in the last month so I put two new Pirelli tyres on the front of it and on the way home I cut the sidewall on a sharp stone....

@Stallingrad poll fail option of I drive an Octavia and carry 10 spare wheels...:D

In general they are a thing of the past.
I had one about 7 years ago due to picking up a small nail.
Personally I agree with the space saver idea.
There is no point carrying around a full size spare that more and more are never used. Supplying the cheapest, smallest size spare that will keep you mobile in emergency is ideal imo.
I don't like the run flat tyre idea as you will still be stranded in deaf you damage a rim or tyre heavily.

I put down 5 in 5 years. Guess i've been unlucky; punctures from huge thorns, to screws, to nails to drill bits. They've all been big ass tyres, but % wise they can't be much bigger than a regular 225 width. Dundalk town area.

Had my first "on the road" puncture last month after 10 years driving. Thankfully happened on a balmy September afternoon!

I had a bolt stuck in a tyre that was so big you could hear the head of it hitting the ground. I broke an alloy in half going through a pot hole but the tyre wasn't punctured!!

Twice in last 11 years. Puncture on main (N) road and hit the big stone lying on a R road - big hole on a sidewall, obviously beyond repair. Alloy not damaged, although wasn't really happy, as tyre was new - 3 days after fitting. facepalm.gif

Once in the past five years and I can't recall another on the road in 40+ years of driving

One nail which was an easy fix, another was a bit of angle iron on the road that took both the tyre and the wheel out. All were a minimum of 18 inch wheels with relatively low profile tyres and I covered about 250k km in that time so I'd class them as rare enough.
