VRT and seai grant on Leaf

    just reading the Seai grant on the leaf

    I thought it was 5000 euros, but actually they give an additional vet reduction of 5000 for BEVs.

    Does that mean that the Leaf would be a 35-40K car without the supports, wow nissan must be creaming it

    They give you a €5000 credit against around €5000 of VRT, charge a little over €5000 in VAT on the vehicle and then give you a €5k grant.

    It's hardly charity on the government's part.

    Nissan lost money on the Leaf until they got the battery below $250/kWh, when they started in 2011 the pack cost $700/kWh.
    Not a whole lot of opportunity to amortize the development and tooling costs.
