    Hi,

I need to use the m50 next Tuesday morning as a once off to head down the M8. Getting on it from the m1 leaving at exit 9.

Can anyone advise should I be ok if I am on the m50 at 7am or should I try get on it before 7am to avoid being stuck in standstill traffic?

Any advice appreciated as I normally only use the m50 at off peak times.

    Thank you.

(Sorry mods if there is another thread like this but I didn't see one)

    It's touch and go.
I leave Swords at about 7:10 each morning. I normally get off at junction 7 at 7:40ish. But it can be 10 / 15 mins later if the traffic is building and if there's an accident all bets are off.

I'd say you should be alright if you're getting on to the M50 at the M1 entrance at 7AM. 10 or 15 mins later and the traffic is starting to build.

Ok that's perfect, thank you I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't get caught!

Tuesday is usually the worst day of the week for traffic. But remember its midterm next week so it wont be as bad as usual. To be on the safe side be on the M50 by 7am.

Roads don't need motorway status to have a speed limit of 120 km/h. The N1 (after the M1 ends) between Jonesborough and the Border is an N road and has a speed limit of 120 km/h and is therefore accesible to cyclists and agricultural vehicles (it has a large hard shoulder).

Don't think this is meant for this thread?

Thank you, I am hoping the midterm will mean less traffic but I'll not be taking any chances and be early and get on the m50 before 7am to be safe!

I always avoid any risk of rushing around by not leaving extra time for journeys as that's just likely to cause an accident!
