Scotland's North Coast 500

I'm heading off tomorrow morning for three weeks to drive the North Coast 500. It's a 500 mile route around the most northern part of the Scottish Highlands... and it has 25 golf courses along the way. Tiny places you've never heard of and then the big guns, such as Brora and Royal Dornoch.

I'll get up some blogs while I'm away, as well as plenty of photographs on Twitter and Instagram...

    ... assuming I haven't frozen to death.

If anyone has any 'local' knowledge/suggestions, fire away. All help appreciated.

    Best of luck Kevin ,

The east coast was near hardcore yesterday - and it was still 10 degrees , hopefully weather holds out for you , up there I'd imagine could be extreme this time of year.

But - on the weather , considering the Irish obsession - I have to agree with the point you made in your book on Irish weather (was mainly about rain).

We have a remarkably good country for golf. You basically play 9 months a year without any problem - and the other 3 you can still play.

Sorry drifting off topic - enjoy.

I still have too much to do in Ireland - but hope to hit UK in next few years. (An Open course to start)

Wow... Pretty much living the dream Kevin.. Hope you get decent weather. Enjoy the golf. Looking forward to reading about it. It's something I'd love to do. Scotland has some amazing courses and down to earth locals...

Played the little Gairloch 9 hole course a few years back and really enjoyed it, I rocked up latish popped my money in the honesty box and headed off on my own.
The views were fantastic and from what I remember the course itself was in good nick, a short course with the holes squeezed into a small bit of land.
But I had such amazing views as the sun was setting that the golf was all a bit secondary.

Gairloch itself is a great spot to visit in its own right
