Is someone relatively new entitled to Jobseekers Allowance?

Asking on behalf of a friend:
26 year old, who was on a Student Visa from Argentina for 3 years, and just got Italian Citizenship a few months ago.
She has been working first as a child minderfor 1 year, then in a coffee shop for the last 2 years.
Has to go back to Argentina for 2 months for family issues and won't have a job when she comes home to Dublin.
Would she be entitled to Jobseekers Allowance?

Any help with this Q is much appreciated!

Nobody has an automatic entitlement to any SW payment really. Criteria must be met and documentary evidence is almost always required and 100% for JSA/JSB. Every claim is different, all she can do is apply and cooperate

i was wondering cause I'd heard from someone you had to be paying taxes in Ireland for 3 years? any truth in that?

PRSI at the least I would imagine. Job seekers allowance woukd be the more likely scenario, but as the abive poster said, apply.

She would possibly need to satisfy the requirement of being permanently resident in the state. This requirement for this may be stricter for non EU citizens.

For JSB you need to have been paying tax or PRSI I think but it's defiantly one of them.
Job seekers Allowance is for unemployed people. And you would defiantly need to prove you're permanently living here. She may want to be prepared for months waiting as well. Especially in Dublin. If she's got no savings from working it's not going to be easy to live in Dublin while the application is in progress. My wife was waiting almost 7 months to move an application from Wicklow to Wexford when we moved so I'd say it's going to be even longer in Dublin
