If you want a special occasion cake with a lot of decoration, I'd recommend Zest. I got a great birthday cake from them and it was a work of art - tasted good too.
That was €50 for a 10 inch cake. For a landmark so it was worth it in my opinion.

If you just a more run of the mill cake then people probably need more details. I do find Supervalu to be very good for fresh cakes.

I'd recommend Zest or O'Connors they both do great cakes and are good value. If you want something written on them or anything special make sure you order well in advance for to give them a chance. Also I'd stay away from supermarket cakes as they are never good quality at all.

Another vote for Zest here. Any cake from Zest I've had have been gorgeous.

I'd go with Zest too, though obviously it depends what you want to spend OP. While they're cakes wouldn't be considered 'cheap', I think for what you pay they're really worth it. Have a look at their website. They have pictures (and probably prices) there.
