Burnt off spring barley ,early September, which was struggling to ripen. Now Department says I must have the remaining stubble green by December 1st? Anyone got any suggestions?

Shake feed barley or oats on ground with the spinner. Don't be fussy about the rate, small amount will do. Roll it afterwards and it'll green up well enough. Stuff that falls off the combine seems to germinate plenty well enough when it lands!

Jesus you wouldn't want to be around here so. Every stubble in the area burnt off so no volunteer grain grows

Does mustard or the likes count as greening ?

Had unannounced Dept inspection yesterday. Dept official suggested I lightly grub the stubbles as doing nothing not an option. Sowing something on it would probably cost me more than the penalty?

A grain trailer overturned outside a pub in Kilkenny city back around the end of August. Nice crop of barley shooting up between the cracks in the paving stones now. Must get a picture before the get rid of it.
