But will stove be enough to heat 2bed appartment ? only heating is electric , will i leave it or get rid of it ? or do i get gas heating installed ? Ir their any grants from government for better BER ? and how much would it cost approx ?

Is there a fireplace? Do you enjoy lugging solid fuel around?

Is there gas installed in the building?

Are there south-facing windows? Are they double glazed? Does the glazing look modern (large gap between double glazing inner and outer pane)?

Is it on a top floor, bottom floor or middle floor?

Does the apartment actually feel cold?

In general, the type of improvements you are describing are not very feasible or advisable in an apartment. But it depends.

BER is not the beginning and end of fuel efficiency.

Hey , there is no fireplace , but i know that irish law approves stoves in apartment , just need management approval .
We want to get wood boiler stove, and some of them have a storage space for 15kg of logs . The only heating is electric rads , but i know other apartment just got gas heating installed (management approved). If they don't approve on stove our next request will be gas heating . The apartments it's self is facing north - west , it's corner apartment so kitchen windows face west , balcony and bedrooms north . Apartment is
Top Floor and the wall thickness is about 50-+ cm . Apartment wasn't heated for couple weeks now and it's really cold , like out side temp.
Apartment is based in town center with private secured parking etc. i really look at it as investment for future. buy it now , live in it for 10 years till we pay morgage and rent it . One neighour said she spend around 300-400euro for 2 months for electricity in winter time :eek: . I think it's too expensive , now we rent 3 bed house BER- C3 we pay 100 electricity and around 70-80 gas for 2 month in winter. so it's like double . it you get what i mean like

If I were you I would try the storage heating for the winter and if it is not good enough or too expensive put in gas heating with radiators in the spring.

I do not think wood fired heating will be a runner. Unless you have a supply of free firewood it will probably be more expensive than gas.

Unless the windows are in really great shape I don't think insulation the walls will do much good.

Insulating the floor will jeep your neighbours below warm but do your apartment no good at all. . There might be something that could be done with the roof but it would require surveys and management approval.
