other than the lancer which it appears is only available in 1.6 petrol do mitsubishi have any decent offerings ?

I remember going back a few years they were v popular lancers and galants v particular selling like hot cakes, and good machines they were too, seems they have changed their marketing focus to more SUVs and offroaders ?

The new spacestar seems to be everywhere despite how crap it looks. Seeing a reasonable few ASX aswell.

If you really concentrate there are a fair few Lancers and the odd Outlander about, they are all just very meh looking so you kind of miss them.

The Lancer is a fine looking car with all the trimmings and extra's. My brother has one with the factory fitted bodykit and imo it's one of the best looking exteriors in its class.

Personally, I like them. But it looks like a car that could have been released in the year 2000.

Try getting a Golf driver into a Lancer.

At this stage I think most Irish people when they hear the word Mitsubishi either think air conditioning units or ecstasy tabs.

Their lineup is just out of date.
The pajero is 15 years old now, and for the last 15 years at least the Land Cruiser has been the jeep of choice for builders/farmers. They still sell a few of them, but not big numbers.

There's a new L200 coming, but the outgoing model didn't have an amazing reputation. I think it was a great looking pickup though.

The Space Star is just a joke, it replaced the Colt, which was a more modern looking car. It's a model that's primarily aimed at developing markets.

The Lancer is killed by the fact that it's mostly offered in saloon guise, there is an ugly hatchback version offered in the UK, but it's really an old design at this stage. They used to offer the VW 2.0 TDI engine in it, but it was too expensive and the tax was relatively high on it (emissions tax) the newer 1.8 DI-D is a lovely engine, but they seem to be pushing 1.6 petrol models on it now. The interior is quite plasticky and as said above, a million miles away from the likes of a Golf.

The ASX is a similar story, feels old and cheap.

Mitsubishi was only ever a small volume seller in Ireland. You used to see loads of Japanese import mitsubishis around, but they were nothing to do with Mitsubishi Ireland. There is no real brand identity and no standout models. A bit like Subaru and Suzuki.

The only model of any real interest is the outlander PHEV. Again, nobody really cares about that either.

Colts and Lancers were very popular in the late 90's. You'd think the 8 year warranty would help shift a lot more.

There is little in Mitsubishi's lineup to draw people away from other car makers. Their range is lackluster and dated. Build quality imo is only so,so and they aren't that much cheaper than better& newer competitors. Resale values aren't great either. An 8 year warranty is the only appealing thing about them but even that won't make much of a difference these days with other manufacturers with more up to date cars offering 5 and 7 year warranties.

Mitsubishis haven't really been popular in this country since the late 80's/ early 90's when they had cars to really compete with the competition.

Their cars just look, well, old. Even new ones.

My father always drove Lancers up until about 2001/02. He got a beautiful white Galant new in 1990. Last generation Galant was and still is a lovely looking car..

Specced up Lancers are still a nice looking car as is top spec ASX and Outlander but shame the brand has lost its way somewhat

The new L200 is out already. I have seen a few of them on the road and at the local dealer near me too. There is also a revamped Outlander out now as well. I think it looked good in a understated kind of way before and the new design is growing on me. The interior is not bad looking but the next one needs to make do much better the same with the next ASX while it ain,t a bad looking car the interior really needs to be a lot better but they do come with a lot of kit do.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.
