    Hi all,

I have a good Texel ram that cut his head fighting.

Seen it two weeks ago and it didn't look much just small bit of blood

Caught him yesterday to put raddle on him and its gone quite deep from scratching and its septic, you can smell it from ten foot away !!

I have it treated now but he was let off with ewes today would he be infertile because of that.....

Option is to but another ram in the coming days if he would be infertile...

    Thanks

It would probably put him of tipping,I'd put out another ram after a week with a different raddle unless he has a good few ewe marked by the end of the week

I would use a Antibotic spray and give him an injection. If his temperature was raised as a result of infection he would be infertile but very hard to know that by just looking at him. Have you thermometer?
I would definitely run another ram if in doubt or at least after the first cycle

inject with antibiotics and with those head injuries I like to put tar on them
whatever damage from the infection is done raddle mightn't tell the full story

Decided to buy a quality ram lamb that will act as an insurance policy this year and a cheap hoggett for next year
