How bad is this rust ?

    Just wondering is the rust attach pics bad ? Would this be a pricey job to fix or would a welder be able to do this without breaking the bank/

    Pretty bad, its a key structural area.Would be a good few hundred to make that safe again.

    Pretty bad alright. Rust is like an iceberg, most of it is below the surface, so the repair will need to remove quite a bit more to get back to solid metal.

    Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    Having had similar work done in the past, I'd say your near 500 quid to fix that. Lot of work

    The price all depends on how rotten the metal underneath that is, and how much of it needs to be cut and replaced with fresh metal.

    One thing I hear of people doing after this job is sealing/dinitrol on the underside after it is completed but this can actually create a bigger problem as all it will do is seal in whatever existing tinworm is there. Once the salt go's down for winter, undercarriage washes are the best bet in preventing salt/rust damage.

    looks major to me and there's going to be dismantling needed which adds to the cost
