Interesting that the winning breeds are Wagyu, Aberdeen Angus and Shorthorn.

But where are the Irish entries?

(Edit: I see a couple in the full article through the link, including Hannan meats in NI)

The beef from Hannan's is outstanding a must try for any red meat lover, rib eye for flavor. Surprised not to see the Dexter ranking higher, some quality producers in Ireland and the UK along with the Hereford breed, yet nothing mentioned of the Hereford who won the world’s best steak award previously.

I love wagyu but think it so individual a texture as to be a dish in its own right, like veal.

Interesting the "haylage" raised entry.. I wonder if the flavour difference is discernable.

for all the hype I find the Wagyu way way over rated. interesting to see allot of the steaks are corn fed, and assume the US steaks were implanted. Any breed properly reared can produce fantastic meat, but I have an extra soft spot for the Sunday Angus Strip-loin roast. It makes life worth living just for Sunday. Only yesterday I was chatting with a restauranteur about how so my chefs who are using absolutely amazing ingredients they start their dishes off with, and finishing up with rather poor food after their cooking.
