Oil in spark plug wells.

Went to change the spark plugs on my 2001 Focus 1.4, and noticed it was quite oily around the two left plug holes.

The two on the right were fine. Bone dry.

What could be causing this?

I also replaced the PCV / Crankcase emission breather hose at the same time. It was very soft and collapsing. Could that have caused it? I've seen reports of the PCV valve being linked to oily spark plug wells.

Common as muck that problem. It is indeed the most likely culprit.

I've seen this mentioned around the interwebs as a culprit. Can't find the part online though. Does it have a different name?

Thanks folks, but how do I "have a look" at this? My DIY knowledge goes no further than a service!

Clean off the oil that has leaked. Drive the car and recheck to see where it's leaking.
