Foundation problems while on differin & duac

Hi. I've been on duac and differin creams for a month and a half and I'm in despair at the moment over what its done to my foundation. Every single one is making me look as dry and powdery as a desert or melting off or both at the same time! Its all the same no matter what I put under the foundation. I've tried nothing, moisturisers and primers and nothing helps. Even double wear is looking crap and not lasting at all.

Has any experience of this problem or any recommendations please?

I have had this problem in the past. Only thing to do was forgo the foundation and stick with concealer and blush. Is this a possibility for you?

OMG. I wish but I'm very pale with loads of redness and blotchiness, and the Duac is making me even redder!

When are you applying both products? What moisturisers, cleansers, face washes etc are you using at the moment?

The Duac and Differin will be drying out your skin so I don't think Double Wear is a good foundation for your skin at the minute.

Sometimes excessive red skin when using Duac can be from being a little heavy-handed with the application. Perhaps try and use a thinner layer?

It's one at night, one in the morning. Very thin layer of it. E45 moisturiser as my skin is sahara dry. I've tried several foundations. All have looked crap.

If your skin is very sensitive at the moment, I would have thought a more specific moisturiser would be more beneficial. E45 is great as a general moisturiser but might not be delicate enough for you at the moment. La Roche Posay have some great products for skin that's in a bit of a tizzy. A local pharmacy might have some samples you could try? The company are generally very good at supplying samples.

What are you washing/cleansing your face with?

The better condition you can get your skin in, the easier it will be to find a foundation that sits well. You might waste a tonne of money trying different foundations at this stage. Easier said than done though, obviously.

Washing with Clarins pure melt gel. Tried various moisturisers. TBH, most burned the bejeejus out of my face if I put them on top of the Duac. the E45 was the best of a bad bunch, La Roche Posay included. The doctor said it'd be 3 months before I knew if the creams worked. I'm just trying to figure out a way to look half decent while waiting it out!

I now use Tikei make-up products over La Roche Possay effaclar mat as a base.

None of this make-up range contains Bismuth oxychloride - which has made a huge difference to my skin.

I have rosacea and my skin is very very red and dry I tried the La Roche Posay Makeup and found it just caked on me. what is working for me right now is Vichy dermablend a little goes a very long way and micellar water to remove it from Garnier. I got a sample from the chemist before I purchased most will do this esp if you tell them your skin is v sensitive. Saying that I find that after a few months my skin seems to reject whatever brand Im wearing and I have to start the search again.

I have also started using a lovely skin moisturer from Uriage a big pot is 20e lasts ages
