    Hi All,

My FSA Gossamer Cyclocross Double 46-36 chainset broke down last week. I'm planning changing it into Shimano 105. I'm not sure about few things and hopefully you can help me:

    1. Do I need to get different bottom braket or Shimano 105 chainset will be compatible with the current one?

    2. Can I get different setup chainset i.e.50/34?

    3. I'm not sure if I should do it myself as I like getting my hands on... or should I bring it to bike repair shop? Maybe there is someone out there who would be willing to change it? Obviously we talking $$$. PM about that if you interested. I'm based in Dublin 15.

    Thanks a lot guys!!!

You will probably need something like this.

I swapped out an ISIS splined threaded FSA BB last year and it was a bit of a nightmare tbh. Vice grips, a hammer, and brother in-law all came into play and it was a bit touch and go. If you got someone else to do it for not too much money, you may just save yourself a load of pain.

If the OPs BB is still serviceable than these should do the trick with very little hassle.

I'm using a similar setup (FSA though) that came with my Felt, no much problems as yet and the Wheels Manufacturing versions get better reviews.

Check out the Praxis Works version. It looks like a better solution than the simple collars.

What bottom bracket standard is the frame?. FSA gossamer can be either megaexo or bb30.

If its threaded/pressfit you just need to get the corresponding shimano BB, they are not that expensive, if it is a bb30 then you can use one of the adapters already suggested or fit a sleeve so a threaded bb can be used.
