seen a bike for sale in an Italian shop that Im interested in.

the seller has agreed to ship it but wants about €250 for it, I could get a Ryanair flight too and for for that and put the bike in the luggage

anyone ever had a bike posted/shipped from Italy, if so how did you manage ?

250 for something that size, registered and insured doesn't sound too far off the mark tbh.

    Trip to Italy it is!

I've bought bikes from private individuals from Italy, Spain & Germany. Cost of shipping is Euro 80-100, tracked & insured. Value of bike did not exceed Euro 800 though.

A shop may justifiably charge above that for packaging & labour involved in packaging.

    Shipper from Italy was PosteItaliene

I bought a bike from Germany and paid around €50 for shipping (2004). If I were you I'd get on a flight and pick it up myself if they want to charge that much
