my spare works in the ignition and can open the doors if I put the key in the lock, but won't activate the central locking and immobiliser.

I have checked the battery in the key, still no joy

    any ideas?

How did you check the battery?
Did you swap it for another?

bought a new battery - works in main, doesnt work in spare

    Peugeot 308 - 2009

i do have a blue card with a panel on it, looks like something you would scratch off with a coin regarding "code", that i was given with the spare

    any bearing?

It probably needs to be reprogrammed with the car's immobilizer.

    This video may help:

it has to be the transponder in the key then, it has to be programmed to the car, bazz26's vid should work, but you may have to do it for both keys within a min or so of each other.
