Anyone ride one of theses, or know someone who does? Not too much info available on line. Not too sure about the direct mount brake calipers. Surely the rear one which is positioned close to the bottom bracket will get clogged with dirt very easily.

Most of the mud / dirt is carried by tyres. The rear wheel will not spray too much in that area (think about rotation), while the brake is shielded from the front wheel spray by the BB. When I think of it, I guess that seat-stay mounted caliper gathers more from the rear wheel actually.
