A neighbour asked me to have a look at his installation a few days ago as it was running continuously even with the CH and the HW zones selected to "Off" on his Myson MEP 2C programmer, it had been doing this all summer he said. The problem was simply that the HW valve was jammed open and the end switch was still sending a run signal to the Boiler/Circ. Pump and was OK once I freed up the valve. The circ pump is mounted externally above the wall mounted boiler and is pumping into the unit. It seems that the boiler has just a S/L, (switched live) with the circ. pump wired in parallel. I dont know if its got a S.Steel or an Aluminium heat exchanger but in view of alot of emphasis being placed on pump over run + an automatic by pass, is this installation the "norm" for the HE IE boiler?. It was installed by a RGI (since retired) approx 4 years ago, neighbour said he has no problem in spending some money if any suggestions/mods would extend the life of the Boiler.
