Structural cracks in old house, is it a big deal?

    Hi Guys,

The house I am going to restore has a 4 structural cracks, most of them running from ground floor windows up to the first floor windows(guess old wooden lintels are rotten). The last crack is just running down a side wall of the house and runs from the 1st floor to the ground, engineer reported that was probably due to settlement. House is approx 100 years old.

I am guessing structural cracks are probably common in old houses and I dont see any sloping of the walls or floors internally so I am not to worried about it, but should I be?

I'm sure I can get the builders to remove all the render on the house, look at the cracks and repair with cement or the like and things would be ok ?

    Thanks for reading. -W
