I still enjoy getting (some) post. It's more official than an email.
It's like buying a newspaper or reading online. I prefer the paper in my hand be it a letter or a newspaper. What about you ?

Depends entirely on what the post is about.
Exam results, for example. Can't say I've ever been too overjoyed to have those arrive in the letterbox. :pac:

I love post!!! I still send my BF and my friends little notes/cards and gifts/chocolate in the post sometimes. As of yet, I have received exactly zero post back from them... but there's always tomorrow... :(

Favourite thing is an actual letter, with a handwritten address on the envelope. And inside it, some news, gossip, and a photo.

So like facebook, yet so different. This cost money and time and attention to send, specially to me.

    Love it!!

Being a hipster the only correspondence i like to receive are messages in bottles or those that arrive via carrier pigeon.

Unless it's from a Nigerian prince bequeathing his millions to me I don't get excited

Somebody said to me once that how you know when the day you turn old is,it's the day that you realise that you turn from looking forward to getting post to dreading it

I get a fierce erection usually.

Contrary to what other people would say, I love getting junk mail. It's fun to read.

Some of them are obvious scams. I got one once that said I had won €10,000 but I had to pay them €25 to receive the €10,000. I was tempted to post it back to them saying they had permission to take the money out of the cheque! :)

No. I made all my bills paperless to avoid getting post.

When I was a kid back in the 80s I had a penpal and used to love getting letter from her. And when my birthday came around I used to get cards in the post from relations, usually with a few quid tucked inside.
So I have this long standing feeling that post is good and exciting. Even if most of what I get is bills and letters from the taxman.

I'm far beyond the age of getting cards and money in the post from aunts and uncles and generally only get bills through the post, but in a triumph of hope over experience I still get a little flutter of excitement when I see letters come in the door.

    The only post I get....bills.

So no I don't like post.

I get excited when I see the postman coming down the road even though I'm not expecting anything

Bills are my lot, unless its a parcel or junkmail. I cannot recall the last time I received or sent an actual hand written letter.

    *bursts into tears*

Yes something very personable about a letter. Many people have such beautiful handwriting, mine has a tendency to get a bit scrawly when writing quickly, kind of like how a doctor will write a prescription.

When I'd look back over my handwritten notes in school for exam preparation I oftentimes would have trouble reading them.

Do you not have a letterbox or are you one those women that great their postman in the nip?

There is something so silently evocative about that process that makes me weep [in a great way]. We're not alone.

Only if it's a packet or parcel. Then I get excited like a dog even though I generally know exactly what's in it since I ordered it online.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,077 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Love getting post......even though it is often some sort of bill these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,208 ✭✭✭keithclancy

I get all my stuff delivered to work.

That means when I get something at home, it's either a bill, tax letter, a fine or something else official.

So when I'm in work it's like christmas ... when at home it's like ... ahhh nooo :pac:

When I get A letter with a harp on the envelope. I hate it

Order a few T-shirts and stuff online so it's always nice to get them in the mail . Annoying though If they arrive early in the morning and u have to get up and sign for them.

My father died earlier this year and all the relations were about my kids and my nephews and niece were given readings and other jobs to do and all went well.

About a month later, my uncle(fathers brother) wrote a letter to us thanking us for the service and how proud he was of the jobs the kids had done.

I thought it was an absolutely lovely gesture to have taken the time to write a short note that we could actually touch.

Since then, I have written a few letters to people that I would normally just contact by text/email.

I think I will continue doing this as the sheer novelty of excitement from opening a hand written was forgotten by me:)
