    Hi

Currently I work in accounts payable for the last 9 months, before that Iwas working in credit control for 9 years. Whilst working full time I'mattending an accounting technicians course I'm in year 2.

When I was researching the course I also had to think about my career andwhat path doing the course would take me. I don’t want to be in accountspayable forever so I’ve had to think about what I’m going to do after Igraduate. The topics I’m studying in college doesn’t reflect what I’m doing inmy role, apart from 1 and that’s bank reconciliations. There is no room for meto move up in the company I’m working for so more than likely if I want a newrole I’d have to leave, but what I want to know is where the hell do I go? Howdo I get the career I want?

I know I want to work in the finance industry, that I do know. I want towork in a firm that deals with VAT returns, payroll etc for small businessesand the self employed I want to use what I’m studying otherwise I will forgetit all. I’m not top of my class in terms of results but I passed my exams and Iknow If I’m working in that sort of environment day in day out I’ll thrive I justneed to do be doing it everyday.

Does anyone work in these types of firms that could perhapsgive me some advise? Is the ATI course enough for me to have a career in bookkeeping?

    Thanks :)
