    Hi there,

I know that HUKD is decent in the UK for bargain alerts, but what forum/website do people use in the US for bargain alerts (particularly online).

Thanks, and feel free to move this if not applicable.

Is there that many US bargains that can be shipped here cheaply?

SlickDeals is probably the closest comparison. It's more like HUKD.

There's slickdeals.net but it has too much to filter though. Example, if some 2 bit store in the arse end of Wisconsin is having a sale that'll get on the list. Now imagine how many stores there are in the US. I spent a few hours on slickdeals one night before I went to the states. Never again.

The problem with the US is there's not just one site, there's tonnes of them. No-one has aggregated all the best deals into one site......idea for a website maybe, humm. ;):D:rolleyes:

If you're going I'm guessing you're going outlet shopping anyway? Sign up in advance for their coupons etc.

What I find when shopping in the US I just get fed up eventually as there is so much choice. Make a list of things you want before you go and if you get those, be happy!

If you're going to Orlando just hit the Outlets on either end of International Drive or the Florida Mall. Always bargains to be had.

Top Tip : you're still over there on the first weekend in Nov (7th & 8th) - Adidas Outlets always do their "Red Tag Sale" ... everything red tagged is 50% off - including already heavily discounted items. Just a few examples I got my son : Adidas Originals runners for $20, Adidas Originals hoody for $4.99 and long sleeve Bayern Munich retro jersey for $14.99 (the same one was €70 here)

Miami and Naples for me, tons of outlet centres around, should be fine alright. but online is handy too.

Don't forget our friends in customs and excise. :)

Take the tags off them. I have been to the states 13 or 14 times and never once stopped - including a brand new bass guitar. I have been searched more coming from the Canaries.

Tags off, US charging pigtails dumped on electronics, don't take the piss (coming back from a three day holiday with two cases would raise questions), don't try a fast one with excise duty items like booze and it is extremely unlikely you'll have problems.

I use Gizmodo bargain recommendations for US stuff - posted daily'ish they collect deals into one post

I would highly recommend Slickdeals. It can seem overwhelming at first but once you tame it, it's really fantastic esp for online bargains.

There are lots of other sites, but many are either store specific or focus mostly on supermarket shopping. Some great bargains/freebies can be had if you are very dedicated and use combinations of coupons and store loyalty cards.

Of course a bargain is only a bargain if you need or at least want the item. So I'd make a list of what you're looking for so you don't get sidetracked.

Many stores have a visitors discount. Also Macy have a iphone app and free wifi. You can scan a label with your iphone and you get the price, i.e. it turns your phone into a mobile price checker.

I know Gizmodo do a daily post or else it's weekly I can't remember. Also check on different subreddits such as frugal and frgualmalefashion etc to find cheap deals.

    +1

Or come back with 3 extremely large red Macy's bags like the couple ahead of me last December on the Orlando flight. I said it to them (politely) in Orlando but they laughed and said "no chance" when I suggested they'd be stopped. They were.

I use bensbargains.net, fatwallet.com and 9to5toys.com for the most part have used others (like slickdeals) but keep coming back to these

of course having an address to ship things to makes it a little(!) easier for me!

The site seems like it's all about Black Friday deals but it's updated constantly
