Before, you required the vehicle registration, make and MOT certificate number (or V5C reference number).

Now you just need the vehicle registration and make.

Just tried to check a classic (recently imported to Ireland) and it's not listed on that site for some reason.

I've used www.totalcarcheck.co.uk in the past. It only costs £1.89 for a detailed vehicle check (including detailed MoT reports dating back to 2006.

It works for all my past UK cars, including 30year old....

Also you can apply to DVLA for £5 for full car history, previous owners etc....

I wrote to the DVLA (completed the form V888, incl £5 fee, etc) and they wrote back stating they would not release the history of my (classic) car "outside the UK mainland"?!

I used a UK address. If you know anyone there try that avenue...

Ok, I'll try asking again. Did you get the manufacturer correct?? The manufacturer entered has to tie in with that on the VLC.

For instance, I've had a bit of BL tin in my time and have found them variously registered under:

    Austin
    Austin Morris
    Austin-Morris
    Leyland Cars
    BL Cars

Likewise a Merc, might be under

    Mercedes
    Mercedes-Benz.

Double check on Cartell the make, then use that variation.

I did have an Italjet moped once that was incorrectly recorded as an ERF.

^^^ Apologies mac..I forgot to reply to you in my last post. Yes, I got it sorted. (I initially entered the make AND model in error i.e. it just requires the make). Cheers.

"No vehicle that matched the data you entered could be found"

No worky for me :( My car was exported from the UK in 2001, but the last change of ownership in the UK was '92, maybe it aint got a relatively recent MOT history?
