As the title says; I have an '08 Fiat Bravo 1.4/ 77k KM's and I live in Cork. I do most of the routine maintenance stuff myself but I have a couple of minor concerns relating to the engine and I'd rather bring it somewhere familiar with the brand if at all possible.

    Recommendations appreciated :)

    What are your concerns?

I kind of low volume turbine type noise is how I would describe it. You can hear it at low speeds when the engine is under load; in traffic with the windows down or when driving down a narrow street with the noise reflecting back. You can barely hear it if the engine isn't under load. There's also a ticking type noise maybe a pulley bearing chattering or something like that. Of course, maybe the noises are related. The car is driving fine otherwise.

I had the timing belt changed recently and the noise was the same before and after. Unfortunately, I forgot to mention them to the last mechanic before he did the job. He did a grand job on the belt but I can see that he's not a fan of Italian cars so I feel like shopping for a new mechanic who might be a bit more sympathetic.

    I'd suggest Dan Seamans.

I have a 142 Fiat and an older Alfa, and have found them very helpful and competent regarding both. They have some ex Lee Garage people there now as well.

There's a good chance I drove your Fiat. I was working in the yard for the distributor last year!!

Turn off your air-con (if fitted) and see if noise stops?

Otherwise put some glossy magazines under your front tyres and with the engine running turn the steering wheel left/right/left to see if the noise get worse?

(Just guessing if it's an air-con compressor issue or power steering pump problem).

As regards FIAT/Alfa garage in the Cork area; I've had an Alfa Romeo in with Dan Seamans and found them good this year.

I've also used Brian Powel Motor Services http://www.brianpowellmotorservices.com/ down the hill for 2 Alfas and one FIAT and found them excellent.
