    Madness altogether

Every second station is a Topaz as it is, also most of the Re-Store shop front Topaz outlets don't take DCI which is a pain when driving a work vehicle.

In another life I worked for Esso for over 15 years, in that time they changed from Esso, Exxcon mobil, Esso Ireland-/uk, ROC and now Topaz.

In all that time they wanted to sell out as there was no money in it and downsizing was the way to go.

Are they keeping the brand name?

I was surprised that Tesco only have 4% of the market by volume, I would have thought it would be nearer 15-20%, lots of people use the discounts on the receipts for fuel.
Rather dominating position for Topaz looking at this graphic from RTÉ...

My company moved to Topaz cards for the very reason, few colleagues were caught out and paid with own money for diesel...

Topaz surely is most expensive, so this is not good news.

We use Dci based fuel cards and have no issues using any of the restore topaz garages ??
Could it be that your company has rates for different stations ? Ie some are classed as bunker sites with truck pumps so you get a cheaper rate

Apparently they had to give €1 car washes for a day in order for the competition authority allow the deal to go through

Dennis O'Brien: I don't know the lad, but he appears to be an utter twat. The "Re:Store" branding is pretty woeful too I think.

What does it matter though? The petrol all comes from the same place.

I wasn't even certain we had them here. There can't be more than a handful of them.

Could be something to do with pricing, but we don't have trucks.

It appears that having Topaz cards is less confusing as to where you can use them.

I remember looking for dci logo every time I had to use a car. Now it is pretty straightforward.

On the card issue , we have Direct Fuels DCI card and dont have a problem, well so far anyway. It is very bloody expensive though, I was in the Topaz near Kill the other day and the lad in the queue was grumbling about having a price of 5eur for a chicken fillet roll. They were charging 1.90 for a bottle of Dr. Pepper, I went thirsty..

Not many Tesco fuel stations outside Dublin, and only a few there.
My local topaz takes Tesco vouchers so they have that covered

Topaz Re:Store food selection sucks in comparison to esso "on the run" or whatever it's called.
€2.50 for a cooked from frozen sausage roll.

I have personal Topaz fuel card and with the 2 cents off per liter 9 times out of 10 topaz is the cheapest or equal to the cheapest on the routes I take. I've only bought fuel from other stations on a very rare occasion.

No I'm not saying every topaz is cheaper than the stations around it some have crazy prices but overall I find a cheap topaz is as cheap or cheaper than anywhere unless you want to risk small no-name stations which I'd rather not fir the sake or a cent or two a litre and even then for petrol I find topaz as cheap.

And yet for me, driving the length and breadth of the country, Topaz sticks out as the most expensive, everywhere. And I'm not talking about being up against dodgy looking stations, I'm talking against Applegreen, Amber, Texaco etc.
