‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ Set for 2020 as Warner Bros., Legendary Unite Franchises
Monarch, the human organization that uncovered Godzilla in the 2014 film, will expand their mission across multiple releases
Warner Bros. and Legendary have officially united their “Godzilla” and “King Kong” franchises and will release “Godzilla vs. Kong” in 2020, the studios jointly announced Wednesday.
Monarch, the human organization that uncovered Godzilla in the 2014 film, will expand their mission across multiple releases, including the “Godzilla” sequel.
The initial trio of films are “Kong: Skull Island” in 2017 and “Godzilla 2” in 2018, followed by “Godzilla vs. Kong” two years later. Production on “Kong: Skull Island” begins Oct. 19.
While Legendary maintains its new home at Universal Pictures, the “Godzilla” films remain in partnership with Warner Bros., who will now also distribute “Kong” as part of the franchise.

The last one should've been Godzilla Vs. Bryan Cranston & Ken Watanabe

So is Kong gonna be the baddie in this one? or will they end up teaming up to beat some other bigger meaner baddie. And then form the Justice League.

Hopefully whatever sequels are planned, they decide to have more compelling and charismatic character as the human leads; Aaron Johnson single-handedly sucked all the vitality out of the first film. The 1998 film had better characters, and that's saying something! :D

Well a few weeks for Kong in the gym, a good diet & a bit of luck can go a long way.

In the Peter Jackson King Kong film I recall Kong fighting some T-Rexs and it being completely epic (though the rest of the film was quite pants and too long). Hopefully this will follow that theme.

Godzilla is still waaaay bigger than Kong or a T-Rex though. He was the size of sky scrappers in the last movie (which this movie is a sequel of sorts to).

Tom Hiddlestone said at the Premiere of Crimson Peak that he's working on a new Kong film- "Skull Island".

They will probably make this new version of King Kong way bigger then....

I know we're talking about a skyscraper sized dinosaur that can breath plasma/fire fighting a giant ape but making Kong that size would be absurd. He is most famous for climbing the Empire State building, so if he is made to be the size of of it for this movie... well he's not King Kong anymore.

Completely agree, the whole notion of the film is absurd, its like me or you vs Godzilla.

But they can't make Godzilla smaller after showing him already. So they are probably going to make a way bigger Kong.

Like in the poster above, they are the same size in the old films, they probably ignored any sort of continuity back then though.

And if they keep Kong the same size....
