    Went by a van the other day pretty sure I was under,just wondering though It was parked facing towards me as I approached and there was a fella sat in the driver's seat as I passed, does he have to be in the van itself monitoring or is it automated

    It's automated alright.

    But it must be driven sometimes, as well as manually calibrated on "shift startup". ;)

    Aside from the now common tactic of sitting hidden up on motorway on-ramps to catch people as they go past below, I saw 3 biker Gardai on one of the bridges over the N7 imbound yesterday morning watching the traffic below, with one of them looking to be taking notes. Hard to even spot them initally with the sun behind them, but don't think I saw a tripod which would kind of defeat the purpose I'd have thought as they weren't in a position to chase someone down either.
