    If the chainring you have is bent, you could try straightening it with an adjustable spanner - the jaws are quite wide and have no serrations to damage the teeth on the ring (unlike pliers)

    Thanks but its never going to run straight again. It's not got a lot of life in it anyway so I will at some stage need to replace it.
