Looking for something nice

I might be on lookup for a car.

    Requirements as follows:

    1. Must be a nice car - at least in some way - might be luxury, or might be 4x4 or might fast or might be just fun to drive, or anything else that makes it nice.

    2. Must be petrol

    3. Ideally around 2 litre. Can not be more than 2000cc

    4. Must be big enough to fit family of 4 (2 adults + 2 children) + bit of luggage.

    5. Must be cheap - up to €1500, ideally around €1000. If something really nice I might stretch it to €2000.

    6. Can be UK or northern reg if that comes cheaper than Irish reg.

    7. It would be nice if I could find a model with towbar and NCT valid till end of January 2016 (no need for longer NCT).

Car will be taken abroad to be kept at holiday destination and used there.

    Any ideas?

That was first thing I looked up - before writing this post.

There doesn't seem to be too much choice though in that price range.
This is one of my top options anyway.

Early noughties Honda Accord with the 1.8/2.0 Vtec engine. Get one with executive spec and it will come with leather climate etc.

Should get a good one for €1500.

    They seem nice car indeed.
    Are they actually good?
I much like the looks of newer ones (from 2003) but they are bit over my price range.
Below €2000 you can't really get a reasonable one I'd say.

How's safety in the older ones? Do exective spec come with ABS and ESP and multiple airbags?
Do they have the same wheel fittings as newer ones and would 16" alloys with 205/55 tyres fit? (I have a set of alloys like that from newer accord with winter tyres which would be very handy if that could fit).

    Subaru Legacy B4 RSK

2 litre, twin turbo, 4 door decent size saloon and apparently relatively comfortable.

Oh and cheap. First one is €1900

    This one is €1600

There is an old Seat Leon Cupra in Cork for €2250, although that is outside budget.

Or a Focus ST170 in Cork for €1800

There seems to be a few Altezza's around for €2000 or less: here, here and here

    Mitsubishi Lancer GSR for €1750

That's all the "sporty" cars that come to mind that would be in budget.
