I guess it means that there isn't a physical meter that can be read so how is usage calculated?

    Hi vicwatson,

Unmetered supplies would normally be installed where there is a small amount of electricity being used continuously and would include supplies such as public lighting and electric fences.

Further information can be found here, but you may wish to contact ESB Networks directly if this does not answer your question. You can find their contact details here.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Aoife

Hi AOIFE, Tks for reply. Can you advise how you might be more competitive for supply to an unmetered connection than say a competitor of yours?  How is the cost to an unmetered connection arrived at?

    Hi vicwatson,

The usage for unmetered supply is determined on a case by case basis. The details on how to apply for an unmetered supply can be found here.

For information regarding the pricing of such a supply with Electric Ireland we would advise you contact our Business team on 1850 372 787 or they can be emailed at business@electricireland.ie. Unfortunately we will be unable to advise you as to the cost of an unmetered supply with any other electricity providers.

    We hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Brige

    Hi vicwatson,

An unmetered connection is one where the charges for electricity consumption are not measured via a meter. This type of connection is available on a very limited basis and only for small electricity loads where the usage is predictable. The charging for such a supply is determined upon certain specific criteria, including a predictable usage which would provide accurate bills on a regular basis. The details on how to apply for unmetered supply are available here.

We are only able to provide you with general information here on Boards regarding the unmetered supply. For further cost information we suggest you contact the Electric Ireland Business team directly, all of their contact information is available here.

Further general information regarding unmetered electricity supply can also be provided by ESB Networks, their contact details are available here.

    We hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Brige
