Chimney repair - is this usually guaranteed?

    Have had a fire which has cracked our chimney. Spoken to an independent loss adjustor who has got a claim approved by the insurance. Problem is the builder we are speaking to says he cannot guarantee the work. Given that the cost of rebuilding/relining, etc, is a hety E4500 or so, lack of any kind of guarantee seems a bit odd to me. Anyone know if this is right or whether I should contact another builder?

    i have never heard of a builder giving a guarantee for works

    The individual products should be certified for use, and thus have some sort of warrantee to ensure they act as they are supposed to, once installed in accordance with manufacturers specifications ie, the blocks, the flue, the flue gatherer etc.
