Hi I got a present of an iTunes card but I don't have an account - can it be sold on and is there any way for me to check the balance to make sure it hasn't expired?

Yeah you can sell it on. But you can’t check the balance. It’s not like a traditional gift card, more like a mobile top up.

Its an old card could be more than two years old and it does mention it expires the latter of 2yrs from issuance and date of activation - I really don't wana sell it and find out it didn't work! Do you know do they really expire?

I've never heard of iTunes gift cards expiring so I'd say your fine. There is no way to check the balance though.
